The 7th annual Delridge Day festival was bigger, better and filled with more fun than ever! The volunteer committee would like to give a huge shout out to our Festival Level Sponsors: Nucor Steel, Amerigroup, Youngstown Flats and Alki Bike & Board. We also want to recognize our Feature sponsors: West Seattle Blog, BET&R, PNTA, Sherwin Williams and Car2Go. Without all of these sponsors Delridge Day would not be possible.
This year, we decided to extend the festivities by one hour, so the festival was even more loads of fun from 11am-4pm! The skate competition went on all day with chances to show off your skills and win some cool prizes while you’re at it!
If music is your thing, then we had a great lineup for you as well. We started the day off right at 11am with the Ellis Brothers – a three piece band that performs jazz and improvisations. At noon Listener Discretion took the stage and showed their skills in acoustic alternative. At 1pm Victrola the Band performed some R&B and soul style tunes and at 2pm Bill Wolford played some good ol’ rock, funk and blues. Finally, Quarter Past 8 closed out the festival with the last time slot at 3pm.
For families, we had a big day planned and were excited to share the fun with our neighbors. Picnic games and plenty of fun activities to keep kids and adults alike entertained with balloon artists, facepainting, bouncy houses and field games! We also had plenty of prizes on hand, so everyone was a winner! At 2pm Bubbleman gave a full one-hour show before we wrapped up with our annual egg toss to round out the games portion of Delridge Day.
Over 70 vendors and sponsors were there all day to show off their products and services. There are many incredible businesses right in our neighborhood and you never know what you’ll find. Plus, with publicity help from the RainWise Program, this year we hosted a special area called the “Green Zone.” We all know that Seattle is known for being very eco-conscious and we were excited to highlight some incredible vendors and sponsors who promote this great lifestyle. This year we had the idea to group all the “green” vendors together under a special banner and, as a bonus, we decided to take it one step further and have a raffle to win some useful “green” prizes such as: three bags of Cedar Grove Compost, one weed puller, one watering wand and a bag of GroCo!
Also new to the event this year was our partnership with the Seattle Police Department, which held their own Picnic at the Precinct in conjunction with Delridge Day! They brought a lot of amazing things with them like the Mounted Police, a SWAT car, a Dodge Charger police car, an Arson/Bomb vehicle, a CSI van and a 20-foot boat on a trailer! This is a great way to meet our local officers on a face to face level and to get to know them and thank them for the hard work they do for all of us in our local community. It also helps that the officers were handing out FREE ice cream as well!
